Case Study: Vancouver Jewish Film Festival
This local film festival got rave reviews for their revamped, easy-to-use website.
This local film festival came to me for help solving some long-standing problems. Online ticket sales were an awkward process – both for filmgoers and for the Festival’s staff. Additionally, the site was difficult for visitors to get around, due to a confusing and inconsistent menu. And their staff had to add info about new screenings in more than one place, which was time-consuming, redundant and likely to lead to errors.
After consulting closely with them and analyzing their site, I drew up a plan. We would convert from their current “back end” system to a new site built in WordPress. Doing that would give them an easier way to update their site, as well as access to the countless “plug-ins” that provide extra functionality. One of these, Event Organiser, was just the thing to take care of their online ticket sales. The top-rated Revolution Slider plugin provided an easily-updated banner to promote their upcoming screenings – and could be set up to dynamically update when adding a new film, with no extra effort on their part. Nice!
As it turned out, for the duration of their festival, they needed to coordinate with an existing outside ticketing system provided for their use. I ensured it was smoothly integrated with their site. Afterwards, Event Organizer was able to fully meet their needs throughout the rest of the year.
The end result was a totally revamped, easy-to-use and easy-to-navigate site that both Festival staff and site visitors raved about.
